Happy New Year!

After almost a year away from this blog, I'm still getting hits. I think it's because when Bloggers don't choose to allow anonymous posts, I can only use my Blogger name to comment... and the link then leads people back here.

I do hope you'll come visit me over at my WP blog home:

Happy New Year to everyone!!

RR progress

Made a bit of a dent in my RR start! Unfortunately, when I ordered the banding for us, one section had 2 unwoven spots… I kept that piece for myself, thinking I’d just weave it back together as I was working. This is a bit more difficult than I thought! (If you click the pic to make it huge, you can see the spots.) I think it will turn out fine, though, and I’m sure once it’s filled with everyone’s lovely stitching it won’t matter a bit. I did have to start in the middle of my piece, though, instead of the top like I was supposed to, but I didn’t want to leave the ‘icky’ spots for someone else to deal with.

BTW, I've become thoroughly disgusted with messing with blogger and I am pretty sure I'll be migrating over to Wordpress soon! I've started a blog over there, but it still needs a bunch a tweaking before it's ready for "the public eye"...

changes?

I finished this block last night for a group exchange... every month we exchange a 6" x 6" Aida block, a new theme each month. This month's theme was "hearts". I still have to sign it- oops! This is the first time I"ve been able to participate; hope I can join in a lot more this year.

I've been thinking about finally switching to the new blogger. It looks as though most of the problems have been ironed out. If I do, I'll probably do a whole facelift for the blog while I'm at it.

I'm still very tired! Got my RR band designed, just need the energy to stitch it. The mailing date is the 12th, I think.

2007 goals

I've got a list a mile long in my head of things I'd like to accomplish in 2007. But I know that if I actually list them all, I won't be as pleased with my progress when I look back in 2008, so I'll keep it simple:

1. Pick up the pace a bit with My Mark
a. expand the hand painted canvas line
b. introduce the embroidery line at TNNA in June
c. create a 2007 blackwork series
d. bulk up the website (I have so much info I've been meaning to add!)
2. Stitch on Christmas gifts throughout the year
3. Complete the 12-month journal quilt challenge
4. hook up the dern dryer vent already
5. make a cute personal cookbook, and get out of that old spiral notebook :P

Along these lines, I have also been thinking about "things I'd like to do before I die" and "things I do if I could do anything" and there's really not a lot! I'd like to:

1. make a scrapbook for my daughter
2. participate in the Bible reading at the White House for the National Day of Prayer
3. take my daughter to the beach

When I hear people rattle off a long list of things they'd like to get or places they want to travel to if they won the lottery, I always wonder if I'm not ambitious enough because I don't have such a list... but I think it just means that I am thoroughly content. I really feel confident that I am doing what I am meant to be doing, and I'm where I need to be. Very blessed, really. It's nice :)

GOSM, health & marsupials :)

The Gift of Stitching Magazine

OK, this issue has the cutest little bee pinkeep design by Little House/Country Cottage Needleworks (a collaboration). Also includes Part 1 of a mystery sampler by Long Dog! If you don't yet subscribe to this magazine, treat yourself for the new year! Clicking on the pic will take you to the sign up form.

*******
I think I'll live! I've been up off the couch for most of today (hooray!) although I do intend to head back there shortly. I even have an idea for a new design rattling around in my head... that's a good sign.

*******
My daughter is studying animals with Grandma, and had to write a report on them today. She chose marsupials, and called me to let me know that "Marsupials are not made out of soup". She was kidding, of course, but I was still quite relieved to hear it.

2007

I can remember back to when I thought the 2000's sounded so space-agey; and thoughts of 2007 --gasp!-- had us kids picturing flying personal spaceships to work... by 2010, we all just KNEW we'd have an apartment on the moon! Funny how things can change so much, yet not really change at all.

Happy New Year to everyone.

sick & executed

I think I have about 5 minutes of "upright" capabilities this morning, so I'll have to type fast. I've been sick-- too sick to stitch, even, which really stinks. I'm so blessed to have my parents nearby, so I could send DD over there and away from this germ factory... I'd like to set off a Lysol bomb in here; why don't they make such a thing?? DH is doing his best to be a good caretaker, but I'm very high maintenance when I am sick. I like to lay around and moan & whine, and have him ask me every 20 minutes or so if I think I'll survive. Ok, maybe not quite that bad, but still. I'm very sure he was happy to go back to work today after spending the last 2 days here home with me! I'm thinking he'll "have to work over", which is exactly what I'd do if I were in his shoes.

I haven't been on the computer for several days; and I was completely appalled to find the VIDEO of Saddam's execution right there on the front page this morning. Is there not something just a bit wrong with how *free* our speech has really gotten??
